it all began...

As a first-generation immigrant, Rafie Khoshbin spent the majority of his childhood in Iran and cherished the fondest memory of family vacations in provinces of Gílan, Ísfahan, and Shiraz. Despite growing up in the bustling and a a more contemporary city of Tehran, he loved driving to the older streets with his parents to take in the historical iraniana architecture.

He fell in love with the world of fashion- enamored by the works of Cristobal Balenciaga and Pierre Cardin.  Captivated by the spirit of haute couture, pursuing a career as a fashion designer was the only thing that made sense for him. Through his journey as a student at VCUarts, Rafie fell in love with the refined Italian craftsmanship during his summer studies in Florence. The brief residence in Italy invoked his passion for haute couture and found an appreciation for hand applied sewing techniques. With a new direction in life, he made it his mission to study the dying art of haute couture and to adapt atelier techniques into his studies.
